PDSP Training – Safe Client Handling Principles

The PDSP training aims to develop the essential skills needed to safely move, reposition, and assist clients while preventing injuries for both the caregiver and the person being helped.

Over the course of two full days, participants will learn to apply ergonomic and safety principles for client transfers in various settings — including healthcare facilities, home care, and residential environments.

Course Content

  • Understand the principles of biomechanics and injury prevention

  • Assess the client’s ability to participate in transfers

  • Properly use assistive devices (belts, slide sheets, lifts, etc.)

  • Adapt transfer techniques to different situations and environments

  • Hands-on practice and real-life simulations

Target Audience

This training is designed for personal support workers, caregivers, special educators, home care attendants, and anyone working with clients who have reduced mobility.

Certification

At the end of the two-day training, participants receive an official certificate recognizing their skills in safe client handling and transfer techniques.
